Personnel

Nicola Perryman has over 16 years’ experience in outdoor environmental education and also has a Forest School Leaders Qualification Level 3.  She has Public Liability Insurance for Forest School and related outdoor activities.

Clothing

For Forest School, children should have arms and legs covered even in hot weather to protect against scratches and grazes. Wellies are good footwear in all weathers, trainers are ok in dry weather if not playing with water! Sandals are not suitable.  Sun protection would be needed in hot weather.  In rain, some shelter is available, but waterproof clothing would be needed to ensure full participation.  In cold weather, layers of clothing as well as hats and gloves are recommended.

Weather

Forest School can take place in all weathers except strong wind and electric storms.  Please ensure children and adults are dressed suitably for the weather.  If a session is cancelled due to extreme weather, an email will be sent out.

Food and drink

Freshly cooked food is available at some sessions.  Hot chocolate will also be available. You are welcome to bring your own drink and snacks if you wish to. Handwashing facilities will be available and must be used before having any food and drink.

Parking

If arriving by car, parking in the church car park is recommended.  Post code CV35 7QZ. This is a little way south on the opposite side of Warwick Road, and is a few minutes walk away.  Warwick Road can be crossed with traffic lights.  Parking is possible on the opposite side of Hill Wootton Road, but we have had issues with neighbours.  Please do not park on the pavement, too near the junction or obscuring access and view to neighbours’ drives.  Please also don’t park in a long line of cars, that makes it difficult for cars going up and down the road.  Please take care when crossing the road with children. It is not a busy road.  If you have more than one small child or any mobility issues and you need to park on the drive, there is at least one space available.  Please ask about this in advance.

Timing

Term time Stay and Play Sessions are one and a half hours long.  School holiday and Saturday sessions are two hours long. Pond dipping sessions are one hour long.

First Aid

Nicola Perryman is a qualified First Aider.

Toilet

An indoor toilet is available if needed.  Please remove muddy footwear when using these facilities.
